Nish Kumar appears on the new album by US hip hop star L'Orange.

The Late Night Mash host contributes vocals to three tracks on The World Is Still Chaos, But I Feel Better, reflecting on things that make him feel better, despite ongoing upheaval in the world.

Nashville producer L'Orange is a fan of Taskmaster and Kumar's stand-up. When the comic tweeted him praising his collaborations with rapper Solemn Brigham as the duo Marlowe, mutual appreciation saw the anonymous producer with a penchant for sampling vintage jazz ask Kumar to pen some lyrics around the record's mix of "dark and upbeat styles."

Kumar told British Comedy Guide that his spoken word contribution was "bespoke - he had already got the title and asked me to write something around that. So I recorded it at home and sent it to him."

Closing out the album on the final track I Feel Better, Kumar reflects: "The world is still chaos but I feel better when I see people protesting against injustice. Or, when I watch blooper reels from my favourite sitcoms. And even as I'm saying this, I am regretting putting these two together. I am genuinely sorry everyone.

"The world is still chaos but I feel better when I've done my job. I'm a comedian and if it goes well, I feel great. But then sometimes it goes badly, but I still feel great because the crowd looked like a bunch of goddamn arseholes and I'm genuinely pleased to have ruined their evening.

"The world is still chaos but I feel better when I've hit the perfect mix of delusion and alcohol, it's the perfect cocktail of self-deception and actual cocktails."

Hearing about the collaboration on his Hip Hop Saved My Life podcast, fellow comic Romesh Ranganathan reacted with incredulity, telling Kumar: "Fuck you! How has that happened?" before grumbling that he too is a huge fan of rap and has also appeared on Taskmaster.
