Chris Ramsey has been announced as the host of Little Mix The Search, a new BBC One talent show.

The BBC confirms: "Fresh from having reached the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing, the critically acclaimed stand-up comedian and award-winning podcaster will be appearing alongside global superstars Little Mix as they search for incredibly talented singers to become members of bands."

Little Mix The Search will see the group - Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - creating bands and becoming mentors to "a new wave of talent".

The singers who make it into the newly formed bands will live together and gain access to Little Mix's "inner circle", including vocal coaches, song writers and producers.

Ramsey says: "Since the moment I heard their first single, I knew I wanted to be the fifth member of Little Mix... sadly it looks like I'm going to have to settle for just hosting their new show with them!"

Little Mix say: "We're so happy Chris has come on board to present The Search. He's genuinely one of the funniest people we know and he'll bring loads of his South Shields charm to the show. We can't wait."

Little Mix The Search will launch on BBC One soon.

Ramsey and his wife Rosie recently announced a series of live dates for their podcast Shagged Married Annoyed. Over 19,000 tickets were snapped up in just 60 minutes, including 9,028 at Newcastle's Utilita Arena, meaning it will be a new world record for a live podcast event.

Speaking about that, the comedian said: "We are absolutely blown away by the demand for tickets for this tour; they have flown out and everyone is so excited, including us! Rosie actually had to have a little lie down... true story."
