Lost In Karastan

A droll dark comedy about a well-meaning film director who finds himself out of his depth when he gets roped into making a film about there of a fictional Eastern European country, the engagingly made Lost In Karastan is a film punctuated by nice performances (from Matthew Macfadyen and MyAnna Buring especially) and subtly playful moments of humour.

Mark Heap & Robert Webb take over Jeeves and Wooster

Green Wing and Peep Show stars will replace Stephen Mangan and Matthew Macfadyen in Perfect Nonsense from April.

The British Embassy in Tazbekistan prepares for the arrival of Prince Mark, a trade envoy and minor member of the royal family. He turns out to be a spoilt, entitled berk (a great comic turn from Tom Hollander) who travels everywhere with a 6ft ironing board so his factotum can ensure the creases in the Prince's trousers are perfect.

Though Ambassadors feels a shade underwritten and falls uncomfortably between drama and comedy (that tricky middle ground is always a hard place to sit), it bowls along thanks to a sharp cast - David Mitchell and Robert Webb play the ambassador and his capable deputy, and there's a great foul-mouthed cameo from Matthew Macfadyen as their furious government boss.

And Frasier fans, watch out for Edward Hibbert (restaurant critic Gil Chesterton) as an equerry.

What ho! Jeeves and Wooster head for West End

Almost a hundred years on from their first appearance in print, PG Wodehouse's comic creations Jeeves and Wooster are being resurrected on stage. Matthew Macfadyen will play valet Jeeves with Stephen Mangan as the dim but amiable Bertie Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, by Robert and David Goodale.
