Bond legend Roger Moore to host Have I Got News For You

The BBC has jumped on the Skyfall bandwagon, lining up one of Daniel Craig's James Bond predecessors, Roger Moore, to host an episode of Have I Got News For You.

Norton hosts a James Bond special tonight when 007 himself Daniel Craig, his boss Judi Dench ("M") and his latest adversary, Javier Bardem, make themselves comfortable on the sofa.

The trio star in the eagerly anticipated 23rd Bond movie, Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes. A brief trailer released on the internet whetted appetites of Bond fans across the globe, and not just because it featured a brief shot of Bond in his trunks emerging slick from a swimming pool.

So there is much to talk about, and not just the film. Here's hoping we hear Craig talk about that unforgettable little moment back in the summer when Bond strode through the carpeted corridors of Buckingham Palace to escort his employer, the Queen, to the Olympic Games opening ceremony. For many her short greeting - "Good evening, Mr Bond" - was the highlight of a momentous evening.

The 007 publicity machine has parachuted in a special line-up for a Skyfall-themed episode tonight. Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench and new baddie Javier Bardem join Norton for a chat about the latest Bond instalment. Lacking a comedian on the couch to contribute jokes, Norton may have to work overtime to get the best from Craig, but we're confident that a bit of gentle teasing and perhaps a martini will loosen him up.

I know, I know, television institution and that. But did he really need to make a comeback? It's not Rab himself that's the problem. Gregor Fisher, still in string vest and suit, is just as beguiling as the lazy, lovable drunken Rab. But it's like watching Robert Lindsay in My Family. Yes, he's good. But what about the rest of them?

Last night saw Rab and Mary welcome (if that's the word) their son Gash back to the home after a prolonged stint in a mental institution. Gash, meanwhile, gets to know his daughter, the foul-mouthed, chocolate-pizza-munching Peaches. Aside from that, not much happened, though Rab did manage to leave us with a rather wonderful little truism on romance: "The dreaded R Word! That's the worst thing a woman can give a man - respect!" he told his bemused wife. "You respect Vince Cable, you respect Alex Salmond... but you'd drop your draws for Daniel Craig."
