Maggie Smith doesn't need to do chat shows, so she usually doesn't. The latest coup for Graham Norton is that he's persuaded Smith to grace a TV sofa for the first time in 42 years, to discuss her new film, Alan Bennett's The Lady in the Van - and to discuss the end of Downton Abbey, no doubt.

Alongside the Dame are her co-star Alex Jennings; Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, the two leads in new chef drama Burnt; and the ever-regal Cindy Crawford, who's 50 next year and has a coffee-table photo-memoir out. Justin Bieber more or less provides music.

Best mates Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells play fictionalised versions of themselves in the tale of an actor (Em) who invites her friend (Doll) to Hollywood as her personal assistant. With improvisation and shaky camera-work, the promise of glossiness that comes when Em walks the red carpet with Bradley Cooper is soon blown apart. It could so easily be a jolly tale, but immediately turns dark when Doll is locked out by the pool while Em has her hair done and the best-friend sniping kicks in. Promising.

Graham's sofa is groaning with an abundance of stellar talent tonight. Michael Douglas will be twinkling with enthusiasm after picking up the best reviews of his career for his turn as as Liberace in biopic Behind The Candelabra and father-and-son co-stars Will and Jaden Smith plug new film After Earth. Guests also include Bradley Cooper and Heather Graham who continue the full-frontal promo assault of The Hangover Part III - you can catch more of the film's cast getting acquainted with Alan Carr over on C4 at 10pm.

The best guests sit on Norton's sofa and tonight's line-up is all Hollywood glitter. Big, smiley Bradley Cooper is a Norton regular who's always great fun - who can forget him flirting outrageously with Jo Brand? He's with Heather Graham to promote another of his Hangover films.

Will Smith did the unimaginable and eclipsed Sir Tom Jones last time he appeared when he did the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap with Gary Barlow. Tonight he's with son Jaden (the pair star together in After Earth), while Michael Douglas will be talking about his latest role as Liberace.

A decent, if male-heavy, line-up for Jonathan Ross tonight. The boisterous presenter is joined by comedian David Mitchell - plugging his forthcoming memoirs, while American stars Bradley Cooper (best known for his role in gross-out comedy The Hangover) and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry also drop in. Scottish pop soul singer Emili Sandé provides the music.

Infinitely more lovable than Jonathan Ross, a shiny-suited Norton welcomes another four guests to his boisterous Friday night chat show. Gavin and Stacey's James Corden will be insisting we take him seriously following the stellar run of One Man, Two Guvnors at the National. Expect a torrent of jokes as fellow comedian Sarah Millican and Bradley Cooper of The Hangover Part II will also be vying for attention on the red sofa, while rock star Lenny Kravitz performs.

Yay, Graham's back and once again there is a reason to stay in on Friday nights. He's terrific, and has injected bright new life into the post-news chat-show slot vacated by you-know-who last year. I love the dynamic of the Norton sofa, where guests turn up en masse rather than separately, which leads to some funny and occasionally weird interaction, or lack of interaction (remember a worried-looking Maggie Gyllenhaal staring in bafflement at comedian Russell Howard?). So far in Norton's reign, my favourite odd couples are big, smiley Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper, who took a shine to our own Jo Brand, and one of tonight's guests, Catherine Tate, who was "romanced" by rapper 50 Cent the last time she appeared. Tate, last seen as Howard Donald in Comic Relief's Fake That, joins her old mucker and former Doctor Who, David Tennant. Grammy Award nominee Josh Groban provides the music.
