Netflix is adapting David Walliams's bestselling children's book Bad Dad into a feature film.

British Comedy Guide has learned that Ghosts star and Paddington 2 writer Simon Farnaby is working on an adaptation of the story, published in 2017, about Frank and Gilbert, a father and son who take on crime boss Mr Big.

The book's blurb says the story is "a high-speed cops and robbers adventure with heart and soul about a father and son taking on the villainous Mr Big - and winning! This riches-to-rags story will have you on the edge of your seat and howling with laughter!"

The film is Walliams's first original commission from Netflix. The BBC has aired adaptations of several of his children's novels, such as The Boy In The Dress, Gangsta Granny and Grandpa's Great Escape, while Sky have filmed Ratburger.

Walliams's sketch series Little Britain and the mockumentary Come Fly With Me, both of which he wrote and starred in with Matt Lucas, were removed from Netflix in June because of their use of blackface and race-related comic elements.

It was also revealed today that Ricky Gervais is to make more shows for Netflix. Story

Not in the UK?

Fear not! Many items can still be ordered. Amazon in the UK delivers to many international territories, whilst their Australia, USA and Canada stores also supply many equivalent or imported items.

If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.

If you order from a UK store, please note that the UK is in Region 2 and B, respectively, for DVDs and Blu-rays - check your player's compatibility, or look for multi-region products if you are located in another region.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. The UK and Australasia are in the same Blu-ray region (B).
