BBC Three is launching a short-form strand called Threesomes, publishing seven short sketch and sitcom series across each year.

The BBC says the new strand will "increase opportunities for breakthrough comedy writers and performers".

Shane Allen comments: "Scripted comedy on BBC Three has enjoyed a purple patch with Fleabag, This Country, The Young Offenders, Man Like Mobeen and People Just Do Nothing among others delivering big audiences and many plaudits. The Threesomes strand is about ensuring a vital opportunity to bring through the talents of the future to continue in this rich comedy story for BBC Three."

BBC Three has also confirmed Enterprice Series 2 today.

Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three, says: "It's important that BBC Three continues to be the place on the BBC that nurtures the next generation of comedy writers and performers. Threesomes is proven to be a successful pipeline for new talent and we're delighted that we are continuing our relationship with Kayode Ewumi with another series of Enterprice."

Each series under the Threesomes banner will feature three episodes, each three minutes long.

The BBC says: "As seen with #HoodDocumentary, which earned Kayode Ewumi a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit award, and BAFTA-nominated and Broadcast Digital Award winning Pls Like, short-form content is hugely popular on BBC Three and we want to give writers the opportunity to cut their teeth with new comedy ideas and characters in a shape from where they can develop and grow."

The first three Threesomes series have been announced as follows. Their publication dates have yet to be revealed.

Threesomes: Hunter

Comedy Threesomes: Hunter. Cayden Hunter (Jon Pointing)

Hunter is a comedy about self-proclaimed 'life-guru' Cayden Hunter, played by Pls Like star Jon Pointing. It focuses on his insatiable need for attention, and the often-unhealthy balance between a leader and his disciples.

The creators explain: "Cayden preaches a gospel of mastering one's own destiny, luring already broken people desperate for answers. He's big on promises but vague about the details. As he works his magic, we see that behind the charisma and conviction maybe he doesn't have all the answers."

Hunter, written by Pointing and Sophie Goodhart, is produced by Baby Cow Productions with Steve Coogan as executive producer. Joe Fraser is the director and it's produced by Molly Seymour.

Threesomes: Oi, Pussy!

Comedy Threesomes: Oi, Pussy!

Oi, Pussy!, written by Atlanta Green and directed by Mustapha Kseibati, combines live action and CGI elements to create a world where opinionated, street-savvy cats can talk and pass judgement on their human owners without a filter.

The blurb says: "Snitches get stitches, but not if you're a straight-talking roadman cat prowling the UK's most notorious estate.

"Pussy wanders around unnoticed, gaining a unique perspective on all the dodgy dealings and anti-social antics going on in his manor. When innocent bystanders get caught in the fray, like Robin Hood, Pussy's determined to make things right - one petty, karmic move at a time."

The episodes are being produced by Big Deal Films.

Threesomes: Fully Blown

Two best mates Vanessa (Donna Preston) and Demi (Verona Rose) rise above their boring, sometimes painful lives by creating superstar rap personas - Starz and Gap C. These Southampton girls know you've gotta fake it 'til you make it - and then fake it some more. But will their success ever catch up with their ambition?

Preston and Rose have previously worked together playing two wannabe rappers called Chelle and Keisha in a series of self-produced online videos.

Fully Blown has been written by Preston, Rose and Sarah Morgan, and directed by Ella Jones. It's produced by Studio71UK.
