Bottoms Up!

Bottoms Up!

Out now. Blu-ray

Based on the enormously popular television and radio sitcom Whack-O!, this uproarious comedy stars Jimmy Edwards in his signature role of a devious, cane-brandishing headmaster. Co-scripted by Michael Pertwee and Whack-O! writers Frank Muir and Denis Norden, Bottoms Up! is featured here as a brand-new high definition transfer from original film elements in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio.

Chiselbury School, allegedly, is an academy 'for the sons of gentlefolk'. Far from being gentlemen, however, the boys are an undisciplined rabble... it is, in fact, a school like no other! But Chiselbury's head, Professor Jim Edwards, is about to put into action a novel scheme to raise the school's profile...

The First Team

The First Team

Out now. DVD

The new BBC Two comedy from the makers of The Inbetweeners.

The First Team follows the off-the-pitch escapades of three young Premier League football players - Mattie, Benji and Jack - as they find themselves struggling with their mercurial Italian manager Cesare, the team's eccentric American Chairman, resident hard-man Petey Brooks and ineffectual coach Chris Booth. All whilst living in fear of Olivia, their team's press manager, who can make or break them - almost literally, it often feels.

Laura Lexx - Klopp Actually

Laura Lexx - Klopp Actually

Pre-order. Hardback, eBook, Audiobook

In these uncertain times we all need a coping mechanism. And Laura Lexx has found the obvious one - imagining life married to the sensible, no-nonsense man of our dreams, Jürgen Klopp. She thinks maybe he has something to do with football? More importantly, he definitely knows how to efficiently stack a dishwasher and would tell you honestly if you were being unreasonable about a colleague.

From job interviews to furniture shopping in IKEA to making a birthday cake for their daughter, Klipp, Klopp Actually is a "hilarious, warm and deeply silly" diary of life with everyone's favourite baseball-cap-wearing, bespectacled German football manager.

Inspired by the viral tweet: "If I ever met Jürgen Klopp I'd say 'omg if we have a baby we should call it Klipp' just so he'd raise an eyebrow at me and tell me I'm a moron and I'd be so naked by the time he'd finished doing that..."

Who Done It?

Who Done It?

Pre-order. DVD, Blu-ray

TV comedy superstar Benny Hill makes his screen-starring debut in one of the last Ealing comedies ever made under the studios' original management. Co-starring Belinda Lee as a glamorous showgirl and David Kossoff as a dastardly foreign spy - and directed by BAFTA award-winning Basil Dearden - Who Done It? is presented here as a brand-new high definition transfer from original film elements in its original theatrical aspect ratio.

From writer T.E.B. Clarke - Passport To Pimlico, The Lavender Hill Mob, The Titfield Thunderbolt - the film follows Hugo Dill, a clumsy manual worker who daydreams of being a private detective. When he comes into a healthy sum of money and ownership of a bloodhound, he decides now is the time to make his desires reality.

Frank Skinner - How To Enjoy Poetry

Frank Skinner - How To Enjoy Poetry

Pre-order. Hardback, eBook

"Someone recently said to me, in reference to my poetry podcast, that you'd think poetry would be more popular than ever, in the twenty-first century, because people don't have a lot of time and 'novels are often quite big while poems are often quite small'. I referred them to Doctor Who's TARDIS."

Frank Skinner wants you to read more poetry. Wait, wait - don't stop reading. Whether you're a frequent poetry reader or haven't read any since sixth form, Frank's "infectious passion for language, rhythm and metre will win you over and provide you with the basic tools you need to tackle any poem" in this short, 64-page book.

Confessions Of A Pop Performer

Confessions Of A Pop Performer

The second of four Confessions... films, Pop Performer follows Timmy Lea (Robin Askwith) and brother-in-law Sid Noggett (Anthony Booth) as they become entangled in the music industry with a new band called Kipper. Often derided as simply smuttier, X-rated, weaker cousins of the Carry Ons (and they certainly are both smuttier and X-rated), the films in fact have a very different history, being adapted from four respective editions of a string of 19 hit comic novels by author Christopher Wood (under the pen name Timothy Lea). Packed not just with boobs but wonderful laughs and great casts - this one includes Peter Jones, Bill Maynard, Doris Hare, Peter Cleall, Bob Todd, Carol Hawkins, Ian Lavender and others - the quad were huge hits on original release (1974-7), and well worth revisiting today. Wood, who adapted his own novels for the screen, also penned the screenplays for Bond classics The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, so rest assured the scripts have a certain pedigree to them.
