Have you ever wondered where comedians come from? Why is it that one person is a funny bloke down the pub while another actually makes a living by standing up in front of an audience telling jokes? And where does all that material come from? Well, young Lee McKillop used to wonder that too. Growing up in his parents' pub, small and wiry in a world of bigger and chunkier specimens, Lee quickly learned that cracking jokes was a way to get attention.

Wilt

Wilt

Written by David Renwick and Andrew Marshall (Hot Metal, Whoops Apocalpse, Not The Nine O'Clock News) from Tom Sharpe's (Blott On The Landscape, Porterhouse Blue) satirical novel of 1976, this late-80s comedy film stars Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones as an incompetent, hopelessly-ambitious police detective, and his would-be prey, mild-mannered college teacher Henry Wilt. Seemingly trapped in a frustrating marriage to a socially ambitious wife, the apparent discovery of a body at a college building site, coupled with wife Eva's (Alison Steadman) disappearance, sets Inspector Flint on the trail of a particularly grisly murder... Laugh-out-loud funny, packed with great comic performances from all involved, and recently restored in high definition, Wilt is now available on Blu-ray.
