Feet First
With the football World Cup currently ongoing it seems an opportune moment to look back to this little-remembered sitcom about the sport. It was created by Esmonde & Larbey, writers of The Good Life, Please Sir!, Ever Decreasing Circles, and much else. From 1979, the early days of the huge money game recognised today, it focuses around a naive young player who's just been signed with a major team. The single series sees the player and his wife clashing with boisterous club PR man Hamilton Defries, and enthusiastic but highly-strung manager Harry Turnbull. All six episodes are available on DVD.
