The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television and radio writing during the 2006 season.

The Office is up for best comedy series alongside Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Entourage and 30 Rock. The latter is also in the running for best new series, along with Ugly Betty, which starts on Channel Four next month, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (also due on Channel Four in 2007).

The 2007 Writers Guild Awards will take place Sunday, 11th February 2007.
