New C4 sitcom by Father Ted writer Arthur Mathews

Arthur Mathews, one half of the duo behind Father Ted, is returning to Channel 4 with a new sitcom.

His new comedy, "The Eejits", will revolve around the members of an Irish pub band. It's thought Paul Woodfall will be joining Mathews to write the pilot script - they've previously collaborated on the BBC sketch show "Big Train" and were once in a parody band together (The Joshua Trio).

The pilot is being funded by Channel 4 who are currently looking for a new hit sitcom for their Friday night schedule.
