Five to trial improvised sitcom idea

Wednesday 15th November 2006, 7:11am

Channel Five are going to trial a programme idea that is based upon the hit German comedy series Schillerstrasse. The pilot sitcom will be like any other studio based comedy series however a "voice of God" will change the narrative as the actors are performing resulting in the need to improvise scenes.

Five elaborate: "For example, if the story was for an actor to change a light bulb, then as they mount the stepladder the director informs them that they have vertigo. The audience hears this but the other actors don't".

Still confused? We are!

The Stage newspaper reports that Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly) is to star in the pilot which will be filmed in front of a live audience shortly. He will be taking on the role of the "voice of God" and directing a cast of five comic actors.
