American magazine Entertainment Weekly has published an article about the best 'underrated' British comedy series.

Amongst the programmes on the list is Channel 4's comedy drama Shameless, and BBC sitcoms Not Going Out and Gavin & Stacey. The second series of Not Going Out starts on BBC America tomorrow, and it has been confirmed the US cable channel will be showing Gavin & Stacey for the first time next month. Currently, only the first series of Shameless is out on Region 1 DVD.

The article, by Aubry D'Arminio, also recommended to American audiences' look out for series such as BBC sketch show Big Train and Channel 4 sitcoms Green Wing, Black Books and Peep Show. The complete Big Train and Black Books, as well as the first series of Peep Show are available in Region 1 DVD format.

Meanwhile, according to The Guardian, the American re-make of Gavin and Stacey is currently facing a dilemma in terms of where it should be set. Originally, it was thought that New Jersey should replace Essex and the Deep South should stand in for Barry Island, but issues about the Anglo-American relationships between the places have arisen.
