De Niro fails to boost Extras

Monday 23rd October 2006, 7:10am

A cameo by Robert De Niro failed to see Extras go out with a ratings bang. The last episode pulled in 3.7 million viewers (3.6 million tuned in to the previous episode).

At the same time, together with That Mitchell and Webb Look, Extras has proved to be BBC2's most successful comedy double of 2006. The former, which has been picked up for a second series, also finished its six-part run last week, attracting 2.5 million viewers.

BBC2 replaces these shows this Thursday with the third series of The Catherine Tate Show, followed by the first episode of the Jack Dee sitcom, Lead Balloon.
