Lead Balloon set for BBC2 debut

Sensing that it has a hit on its hands, the BBC is switching the Jack Dee sitcom, Lead Balloon, to BBC2 on 26th October, before the show finishes its run on BBC4. The move comes after Lead Balloon earned BBC4 its highest-ever rating for a comedy show. The first episode, which was broadcast earlier this month, pulled in 383,000 viewers.

The six-part programme sees Dee playing Rick Spleen, a successful but disillusioned and world-weary stand-up comedian and writer who spends too much time hosting corporate events. Rick and Marty, his American co-writer, spend their days arguing about every subject under the sun, drinking too much coffee, and devising work avoidance strategies.
