Chris Langham attempts TV comeback

Chris Langham is attempting to make a comeback to television by appearing on the More4 show Shrink Rap at 10pm on 15th January 2008. He is to be interviewed by Pamela Stephenson, whom he previously worked with on the famous British sketch show series Not the Nine O'Clock News.

Langham was sent to jail last year for downloading child pornography, but was later acquitted. His interview with Stephenson was given two days after his release, and Langham now claims he feels embarrassed by it. He received no fee for the interview.

In the interview the actor talks about his time in jail, as well as the alleged sexual abuse he suffered when he was an eight-year-old. However, Stephenson challenges these claims when Langham later tells her: "I am a compulsive liar."

A spokesman for More4 said "Langham describes a painful past, speaking openly about the abuse he endured as a child, his addictions, his trial and subsequent imprisonment. Describing his reasoning behind the actions which led to his conviction, Langham reflects on what it feels like to be convicted of a crime considered 'a worse taboo than murder'."

Langham has also given an interview to The Observer with his wife, which was published today. In it he said: "I'm absolutely clear that what I did was wrong. It never occurred to me that what I was doing was in any way offensive to other victims of sexual abuse. But it has been made clear to me that I have been, and I am sorry for that. I'm aware that it's selfish of me to talk about my own experiences, because what about those kids who were abused just by my looking at them?"
