It looks like Robert De Niro will make an appearance in the final episode of Extras. The BBC have not confirmed this, although they have also not denied that the Taxi Driver star's cameo will help the show go out with a bang. The finale is a closely guarded secret, but it is believed that the Hollywood legend has already flown in to film his scenes.

The rumour stems from Ricky Gervais sharing scenes with De Niro in Stardust, a fantasy film due for release next year which is directed by Matthew (Layer Cake) Vaughn and based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name. The movie also features appearances by Mark Heap, David Walliams, Adam Buxton and Julian Rhind-Tutt.
