Tamsin Greig, star of Green Wing and Black Books, is to star as the mother of Anne Frank in an adaptation of her diaries.

Greig is to play Edith Frank, with Anne's father Otto Frank being played by Iain Glen, most famous for his film roles in such pictures as Kingdom of Heaven and the Resident Evil films. The role of Anne Frank herself is to be played Ellie Kendrick. The drama is to be shown on five consecutive nights on BBC1 next year.

On a lighter note, Greig is also due to appear in the second series of Love Soup some time later in 2008.

Yesterday the actress attended a Green Wing DVD signing session, alongside Pippa Haywood, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Karl Theobald and writers Rob Harley, Oriane Messina and Fay Rusling. The event was to promote the release of The Definitive Green Wing Boxset.
