BBC Radio 7 developing new comedy panel game

Whilst comedy and panel games go hand-in-hand, digital radio station BBC7 is developing a new panel game actually themed around the topic of comedy.

Nobody Expects The Spanish Inquisition is to be a panel game based on comedy clips and trivia. It is to be presented by Ian Macmillan, Barnsley-born poet, Have I Got News for You panellist and host of Radio 3's The Verb. It will also star two regulars: stand-up comedians Smug Roberts and Seymour Mace.

A pilot episode featuring singer Bernie Nolan and veteran comic Mick Miller was recorded recently. Miller wrote on his website: "The best way to describe it is like Never Mind The Buzzcocks for comedy. Being a pilot, we had to record ten rounds, but they only intend to use four. Some of the rounds were very odd, but I'm sure it will make a great show by the time they have finished."

Another episode is being recorded on 5th November at the Manchester Comedy Store. It will feature Graham Walker from The Grumbleweeds. For tickets visit the BBC Ticket Website.
