Vernon Kay is to appear in the final episode of Extras. The TV host and Radio 1 DJ will feature in a scene set in top London restaurant The Ivy in which Andy (Ricky Gervais) and Maggie (Ashley Jensen) 'torment' him. The Bolton-born presenter was apparently stunned to be called by Gervais, a friend telling the Sun: "It took ten minutes to persuade Vernon it wasn't a wind-up."

John Travolta, George Michael, Dean Gaffney, Gordon Ramsay and Jonathan Ross are other names appearing in the final special, which is to be broadcast this Christmas.
