British Sitcom Guide reveals expansion plans

The British Sitcom Guide has revealed plans to expand and re-brand as The British Comedy Guide. The new larger site, which will cover all forms of British comedy (rather than just sitcoms), is expected to launch in autumn 2007.

Mark, Editor of British Sitcom Guide, says: "the aim of this expansion is to enhance and expand our situation comedy guides and allow us to branch out into giving other genres of comedy the same passionate and dedicated coverage. I'm really looking forward to being able to publish guides to brilliant series like Morecambe and Wise and give awful comedies like Blunder the horrific reviews they deserve."

The British Sitcom Guide was founded in 2003 as a very small hobby site but has rapidly grown in the last couple of years and now has over 50,000 unique visitors a month. Sitcom.co.uk has been reporting on all genres of comedy within its DVD and news coverage for a couple of months now however the re-brand will allow the editorial team to completely end the self-imposed tight sitcom remit and start to provide in-depth guides to comedy dramas, films, sketch shows, radio comedy, stage productions, standup acts and all other forms of British comedy.

Although the expansion focus will mainly be on generating more programme guides the new website will see the launch of some new features; DVD wishlists and the ability for visitors to publish their own reviews are two features that have been announced.

More information on the plans can be found at comedy.org.uk. Visitors can give feedback and ask questions via a dedicated thread posted on the BSG's message board.
