Peter Kay is to star as a binman in his next comedy project. Kay is writing the show with Craig Cash, the creator of The Royle Family.

According to The Sun, an insider has said that, "They were originally thinking of making a film, but are now doing it for TV. It's really funny."

Kay and Cash are currently in talks with broadcasters. It is believe that Channel 4 may commission the show as the station is worried about losing Kay to a rival.
