The BBC have announced that they've given the go ahead for a second series of After You've Gone.

The BBC1 sitcom, which stars Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie, made a good debut on the channel at the start of the year. The comedy, created by the team behind massive hit My Family, saw its ratings rise from 4.1 million to a peak of 5.8 million during its seven week run.

The BBC1 controller, Peter Fincham, who ordered the new run along with Cheryl Taylor, the controller of comedy commissioning, said: "Comedy is really hitting its stride on BBC1 with the return of Jam and Jerusalem, Not Going Out and now a new commission for After You've Gone. The comedy strategy of commissioning pilots is delivering for BBC1 audiences."

The new run of eight episodes will air later this year and will be followed by a new Christmas special.
