Channel 4 launches new comedy writing contest

Wednesday 7th March 2007, 4:03pm

Channel Four launched a new 4Talent initiative in Glasgow today called Gags to Go. They're hoping to find 'new comedy genius' through this writing contest. New comedy writers and writer-performers should send in two minutes of comedy material to Channel 4 before the end of the month to get involved. All forms of comedy will be considered, from sketches to satire to stand-up.

The funniest applicants will be invited to perform their work, or have it performed by a team of comedy actors, at showcase events across the country.

The top ten video and audio gags will then be put to a public vote by text and email, and scrutinised by top producers and commissioners at Channel 4. The top ranking applicants will then get the chance to work with some of the best comedy script editors and producers in the business. This will include one month's paid work experience at the highly respected Glasgow-based production company The Comedy Unit. From here they'll go on to create an audio sketch show for 4Talent and have their comedy added to the 4Mobile portal as well.
