Benidorm loses viewers

Last night's episode of Benidorm was down 800,000 viewers on last week according to overnight figures.

The second episode of the new sitcom attracted 4.5 million viewers and a 21% share between 10pm and 10:30pm. Last week in the same slot on ITV1 Benidorm launched with 5.3 million viewers and a 26% share.

Benidorm, written by Catherine Tate writer Derren Litten, follows British holiday makers at The Solana holiday resort in Spain. The cast includes well known comedy stars Johnny Vegas, Steve Pemberton and Janine Duvitski.

ITV1 comedy drama Bonkers, which preceded Benidorm in the schedules, also lost viewers. It was down 700,000 and a three point share. 4.2 million viewers (an 18% share) watched the drama between 9pm and 10pm.
