Warwick Davis - Britain's pre-eminent dwarf actor, and the star of new Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant sitcom Life's Too Short - looks set to get his own entertainment show.

The BBC have ordered a pilot episode of Ace Of Clubs, a new panel quiz show format in which 'enthusiastic members of a club or society are given a platform to prove they are the ace of clubs.'

BBC One recently aired a similar show called Epic Win; a six-part Saturday night show hosted by Alexander Armstrong in which British eccentrics showcased their unique passions with a panel of comedians acting as judges.

Warwick Davis has been performing in films for many years, including roles in Star Wars, Harry Potter and Willow. Following a guest appearance on the second series of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's sitcom Extras in 2006, the creators of The Office set about creating a sitcom vehicle for the actor. Life's Too Short, in which Davis plays a fictionalised version of himself, made its debut last week. Critical reaction was mixed, but the show did well in the ratings, picking up nearly 2.5m viewers.

The pilot episode of Ace Of Clubs will be recorded at MediaCityUK, the BBC's new Manchester studios, on Tuesday 29th November. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page

Life's Too Short continues on BBC Two at 9:30pm on Thursday. Below is a preview clip:
