The nominees for the Sony Radio Academy Awards 2011 have been announced. 'The Sonys' are generally considered to be the most prestigious awards in the British radio industry.

The nominees in the comedy category are:

- Just A Minute (BBC Radio 4)

- Rhod Gilbert's Bulging Barrel of Laughs (BBC Radio 2)

- The Jason Byrne Show (BBC Radio 2)

- The Unbelievable Truth (BBC Radio 4)

- Tom Wrigglesworth's Open Return Letter To Richard Branson (Radio 4)

Meanwhile Frank Skinner has been nominated for both Best Entertainment Programme and Music Radio Personality of the Year for his Absolute Radio show; whilst Radio 2 documentary Wireless Kenny Everett has been nominated in the Best Feature category.

The winners of the 2011 awards will be announced at a ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel on the 9th May. Last year, Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, aka Adam & Joe, won the Gold Award for comedy.
