Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are working together on a new project.

Few details are currently known, however Frost confirmed the news to the website Inverse, saying: "Simon and I are working on something. We're trying to do something a bit special at the moment. It's a work in progress, and we may have some more information on it later in the year."

The star - who is due to appear in new sitcom Sick Note soon - said he wasn't yet sure if their new project would be for TV or film, speculating: "I think I'd [want] to do something in the sci-fi world. Something a bit ghost hunter-y, or a bit Monster of the Week in a comedy. With two guys and a girl, it's like the X-Files, but they're not affiliated with any government agency."

Frost & Pegg previously appeared in the 2011 alien-based comedy film Paul (pictured).

It's currently unclear if Edgar Wright will also be involved in the new project; the director who has worked with the duo on projects including Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and their most recent collaboration, 2013 pub crawl film The World's End.

Frost met Pegg in the 1990s when he was working at the same restaurant as Pegg's girlfriend; they soon became close, bonding over shared interests in the same TV shows and films. Pegg then cast Frost in Spaced, before the duo moved on to start making films together.
