Stand-ups to enter Bath marathon the morning after a show

Komedia Bath

The comedians starring in a live show at the Krater Comedy Club in Bath on Saturday 11th March 2017 will then take part in the city's half marathon the next day.

Alistair Barrie, Barry Castagnola, Rob Deering and Paul Tonkinson have all signed up to run in the race the morning after they've been on stage. They'll also be joined by 8 more "willing athletes" from Komedia, the Krater Comedy Club's venue.

The team of 12 are running the 'Bath Half' on Sunday 12th in aid of the Parkinson's UK and Dorothy House charities. The team's Virgin Money Giving page

Komedia explains: "The team have been putting themselves through a rigorous training regime of fartlek-induced belly laughs, high intensity interval training (i.e. racing to be the first to the bar in any given show's interval) and occasionally legging it for the bus. They will complete the last-leg of their training plan at our Bath Half special edition of Krater Comedy Club and Motorcity on Saturday 11th March, and we'll be helping them get fully race-ready with our specially devised carb-heavy marathon menu that will be on offer that night."

Anyone who runs up to the comedy show on Saturday who is also set to run 'Bath Half' will be entitled to half price food from the pre-race menu by presenting their registration email to staff. The venue says: "So there are no excuses for runners not to come and take their minds off the race for a few hours with great food and entertainment at Komedia!"

Following the race, Komedia will also be offering 2-4-1 tickets for Krater Comedy Club up until the end of April to anyone who shows their finishing medal at the door.

Barry Castagnola

Barry has been performing stand-up in the UK and internationally for over 6 years since blagging his way onto the stage at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. A first time Bath Half runner, Barry's easy-going (yet very physical) comic style will no doubt transfer seamlessly to the race environment... Or will it?

Rob Deering

Rob Deering

Rob performs stand-up comedy with music, using a guitar, a loop pedal and his voice to create impressive rock and pop soundscapes (with jokes, of course). He also recently ran all over Britain for BBC 6 Music. Yes, Rob runs, presenting the podcast Running Commentary with fellow running comic Paul Tonkinson. Fundraising for his favoured charity, Parkinson's UK he has run seven marathons.
