The annual Leicester Comedy Festival Awards took place last night (28th March), honouring the comedians, venues and promoters that are involved in the February-based festival.

Stewart Lee attended the ceremony to pick up the annual Legend of Comedy Award. Previous legends have included Jo Brand, Nicholas Parsons, Victoria Wood, Barry Cryer, Rik Mayall, Ken Dodd and Norman Wisdom.

Lee was presented with the trophy by Michael Harris-Wakelam from The Y Theatre, and event host Eshaan Akbar.

Founding Director of Leicester Comedy Festival, Geoff Rowe, says: "It was such an honour for Stewart Lee to attend the ceremony and accept the Legend of Comedy award. He has made a significant contribution to British comedy and also helped support and encourage new talent throughout his career. We were also thrilled that the other winners and nominees, as well as guests and supporters of the festival, attended the event to help celebrate Leicester Comedy Festival.
