The sketch troupe Lady Garden has disbanded.

The all-female group met at Manchester University and subsequently appeared in their debut solo show to the Edinburgh Festival in 2008. The comedians, who performed live regularly and had a monthly residency in London, also appeared on various TV shows together, including BBC Three's Live At The Electric.

Initially Lady Garden comprised of Hannah Dodd, Rose Johnson, Jessica Knappett, Eleanor Thom, Camille Ucan and Beattie Edmondson.

Knappett, who appeared in The Inbetweeners Movie, departed the group a little while ago to peruse her individual writing and acting career (her comedy Drifters will be on E4 later in the year).

However, it has now been announced that Lady Garden is to fully disband, with the group's website and Twitter feed due to be closed down shortly. A reason for the decision has not been made public, but it has previously been suggested that it is hard to make a living as a five person sketch group, as the money from gigs must be split many ways.

Eleanor Thom has announced she is going solo. She will perform her debut show, Eleanor Thom: I Am Bev, at the Edinburgh Festival this August.

Meanwhile Camille Ucan, Beattie Edmondson and Rose Johnson are teaming up to launch a new sketch group. They will also be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year with a debut show.
