John Finnemore announces live stage show

John Finnemore's Souvenir Cabin

John Finnemore - the creator star of Radio 4's Cabin Pressure, John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme and the forthcoming radio series The John Finnemore Project - has announced a new live stage show.

John Finnemore's Souvenir Cabin, which will launch in London this autumn, will feature the star's favourite sketches from John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme alongside brand new material, a fresh 'Since You Ask Me' adventure, and "quite possibly a song or two."

Finnemore will also appear live as his Cabin Pressure character Arthur Shappey. Talking about the upbeat air steward's first stage appearance, the writer says: "He's very excited. Well, obviously he always is, but I mean specifically about this."

Each of the 12 shows will feature one of five guest stars. The list comprises of the four cast members of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme (Simon Kane, Carrie Quinlan, Lawry Lewin, Margaret Cabourn-Smith), plus Kevin Baker, the actor with whom Finnemore makes his Sunday Papers YouTube series.

John Finnemore's Souvenir Cabin will run daily from the 30th September to the 11th October 2015 (except 5th October) at the Shaw Theatre, which is situated near Euston in London. The shows start at 7.30pm, and will be about two hours long, including an interval.

The creator confirms: "It is suitable for children. We've put over twelve as a guide, but this will not be rigidly enforced. If you have a well-behaved ten year old, bring them along. Come to that, I suppose, if you have a badly behaved fourteen year old, keep them away."

The star, writing in his newsletter, also explained: "Unlike previous shows I've done recently, it's not a try-out or preview, but a proper show in its own right, with, you know, costumes, and an interval, and all that stuff. I'm going to learn it and everything. (I know! Such dedication...)

"Among other things, it will include favourite sketches from Souvenir Programme; brand new sketches; a fully dramatised 'Since You Ask Me...' story; hopefully a song or two... and a specially written new monologue by Mr Arthur Shappey, making his first live stage appearance."

Tickets, priced at £27.50, are available now via Ticketmaster
