BBC Radio 1 (branded for a period of time in the 90s as just 'One FM') has always been first and foremost a music station. However in the 90s it did experiment with a bit of comedy programming - for example, in 1993 the station gave Stewart Lee and Richard Herring airtime to broadcast Fist Of Fun. Website
