Philip Simon

Having played Daddy Pig in Peppa Pig, when Philip became a dad surely there was only one expert to turn to for parenting advice? Yes, that's right, you're not misreading this; Philip really did play Daddy Pig in Peppa Pig (the stage production, not the TV show, don't get carried away!). Join Philip for an hour of award-winning stand-up comedy about dating, parenthood and, of course, Peppa Pig... just don't bring the kids! Jewish Comedian of the Year 2015. BBC New Comedian Shortlist nominee. Writer for Mock The Week. 'Never less than hilarious' (The Stage).

+3 interview: Who's the Daddy Pig?

"Before starting stand up comedy I was an actor, and one of the biggest jobs I had was playing Daddy Pig in the official stage production of Peppa Pig. Fast forward a few years and I became a dad in real life, and suddenly Peppa and her family were back in my life again."

Philip Simon

Who's the Daddy Pig? is the debut hour from Philip Simon, following his 2018 "hidden gem of the Fringe" work-in-progress shows.

Having played Daddy Pig in Peppa Pig, award winning comedian Philip Simon turns to the expert for advice in his debut hour show that looks at the challenges of life and the parenting of young swine (sorry, kids), through the mindset of the grumpy, overweight, hapless but loving dad of Peppa and George.

Who's the Daddy Pig? will be running daily from Saturday 03 August to Sunday 25 August at noon at the Banshee Labyrinth - Chamber Room (Venue 156). The hour of stand-up comedy will cover topics such as dating, marriage, parenting and Peppa Pig, in a not-so child friendly way.

About Philip Simon

Philip Simon

Philip is a professional comedian who has been a regular on the UK and international stand-up circuit for 8 years. As well as being part of the production rehearsal teams for Mock The Week and Taskmaster, he is a regular contributor of material to shows including Mock The WeekNewsjack and Newsrevue.

He is a former winner of Jewish Comedian of the Year, Lastminute Comedy Comedian of the Year and Kill for a Seat Comedian of the Year. At the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, Philip co-hosted the regularly sold-out Jew-O-Rama (which also returns this year) and his Who's the Daddy Pig? work-in-progress show, which the Fringe Review described as a "hidden gem of the Fringe".

Before starting stand-up in 2011, Philip was an actor and puppeteer, featuring in a Muppet Movie and playing Daddy Pig in the stage version of Peppa Pig. His personal life is a classic love story where boy meets girl; boy gets girl pregnant; boy and girl think "f*ck it, let's do this!" and live happily ever after. The big questions though were 'would fatherhood be as easy as Daddy Pig makes it look?'; and 'can everything really be made better by jumping in muddy puddles?' The answers to those and many of the common problems many parents face can be found in Who's the Daddy Pig?
