Rhys Nicholson answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show.

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

Wow we're really going hard early. I did my first gig when I was 16 but didn't try it properly until I was 18. I moved to Sydney and basically just tried to get good. I was a very bad comedian for the first 2-3 years. No I'm ok I guess. I don't know. Could be better could be worse. Jesus, now I'm wondering whether I've wasted my time. Everything's fine.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. I'm a natural brunette.
2. I'm a "gold star" gay.
3. I love haggis.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

It's ok. I was nominated for some awards. People seem to like it but comedy is so subjective. Come find out I guess.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

I was thinking of just telling people I'm Rhys Darby.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

There's a soup place I go to every day. That's where I get my vegetables. I'm not sure that evens out the fried food I eat though. You Scots will deep fry a door knob if you could.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

Look I'm going to be honest but in no way am I trying to offend you. I love the food here, I really do, but I still miss Australian food and coffee. It's a broad generalisation but you people just don't seem to enjoy any produce that's green.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

I quite like walking up Arthur's Seat but I feel like that's a bit of a cliché. I mainly enjoy seeing people I only get to see this month. Other than the shows the only thing I do is eat fried food and catch up with friends over drinks. Many drinks.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Maria Bamford, Paul F Tomkins, Sara Pascoe, John Mulaney, Sarah Silverman, Jesus Christ.

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Nicola Sturgeon. I don't know very much about politics and I think the conversation would be stilted and a bit embarrassing.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

I don't know, because I told you so? The room I'm performing in has no phone reception so if you're avoiding a call my show is a good excuse.
