Fin Taylor: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Fin Taylor

Fin Taylor answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show.

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I started stand-up at uni in 2009, and went full-time the year after I left in like 2011/12. I feel like I've only just "found my voice" in the last year though. There's part of you that's always thinking that the grass is greener but I've got to do so much cool stuff because of stand-up: I've just come back from the Vodafone festival in Dublin where I got to gig with current SNL people! Crazy fun. I just want to keep doing cool stuff like that and getting better, that's where the buzz is at.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. My dad was in Playdays.
2. I love beer so much I know that one day I'm going to have to give it up totally or it'll ruin my life.
3. I have 9 toes. On my hands.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

It's a white guy making jokes about white privilege and calling out liberals and conservatives alike for exacerbating everything. WHAT COULD GO WRONG. Please come everyone.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

I am selling hats that say "Make Edinburgh Great Again" so hopefully audiences buy them and people see them walking around and wonder where they came from.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

No booze No bread No Dairy is my plan for the first week. But an especially good or bad or mediocre review will send me into the arms of one them. (Good-booze, mediocre- booze, bad- 10 pints and a cheese sandwich.)

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

This year is the first year that I've lived in London and liked my house and everyone in it. It's so calming and peaceful and I will actually really miss it for the month.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

Come off it mate*

*No I probably should visit my Nan who lives here.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

KEARNS-HESS-LOLLY-EWINS-WINNING-TAYLOR-GADD-BEARPIT AND IT WOULD BE AT 23.30 ON THE 23RD & 25TH OF AUGUST 2016 IN THE PLEASANCE ACE DOME

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Whatever piece of shit reality TV star is up this year pretending to be a comedian/actor/artist. Can't be bothered to scour the programme for whatever chump it is this year but whoever it is piss off and let us get on with it.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

I'VE TRIED REALLY HARD TO MAKE IT AS FUNNY AND INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING AS POSSIBLE AND I THINK IT'S COME OUT FUNNY AND CHALLENGING WITHOUT EVER STOPPING BEING FUNNY AND I REALLY HOPE EVERYONE AGREES!

'Fin Taylor: Whitey McWhiteface' is at Gilded Balloon at the Counting House at 11:15pm on 3-22, 24-28 Aug. Listing
