Fascinating Aida: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Dillie Keane from Fascinating Aida answers 10 questions about their 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I started in 1842 and I'm still going. That'll do.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).

1. I've been learning Burmese for the last 18 months and can now have a stilted conversation with a Burmese person.

2. I held the school record for eating 32 sausages at one sitting.

3. I played postal chess one move at a time with a chap called Norman who I met on a raspberry farm in Scotland.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

Two old trouts and a youngish soprano sing smut and satire, beautifully harmonised, and accompanied by one of the old trouts on pianoforte.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

I'll give them my recipe for chutney.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

Eat and drink healthily? Don't be silly. The hills of Edinburgh do all the good work of keeping you fit. I shall leave the festival with thighs like steel and a liver like a sponge.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

My little terrier, Piper.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

We're making a DVD of the show with lots of extras, so I'll be busy with that. And I'll try and see some shows, of course.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

I'd populate my evening with funny cabaret artistes, of course. Meow Meow would be top of the bill.

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Ahhh, that would be telling. One has pushed a few acquaintances off the Cliff Of Friendship over the years, and it would be indelicate to mention their names.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

Because it's bloody wonderful and will make you go out into the night feeling full of joy. There aren't many shows that can do that.

'Fascinating Aïda: Greatest Hits - Back in the Saddle' is at Assembly George Square Gardens at 7pm until the 28th August. Listing
