Acclaimed, award-winning stand-up with some thoughts on life now that he is older than Jesus. Uncompromisingly hilarious new show from star of BBC's Don't Drop the Baton, Nelson's Guide to Marriage, and Telegraph Critics' Choice. 'Wonderfully crafted gags ... his profanity is utterly charming ... talent that is simply obscene!' (List). 'Remarkably accomplished stage presence ... blistering material which pushes dangerously near the boundaries of good taste' (Sunday Times). 'Rarely has someone managed to be so simultaneously offensive and likeable' (Fest). 'Powerful punchlines ... devastatingly effective' (Chortle.co.uk). 'Great jokes, and lots of them' (Telegraph).

The hottest comedians at the Fringe.

Right now, if you have half an interest in Edinburgh comedy, you will be inundated with tips and advice about who to see. This guide is a bit more straightforward. It used to be that male comedians were unkempt and overweight, much of the reason why they were so unlucky in love. Now, quite a lot of them are hot. Here is a selection....

Mark Nelson's show sees him exploring the meaning of his life now that he is officially 'Older Than Jesus'.

Fringe 10x10 - 2. Ten circuit stalwarts

Over the years a divide has grown between 'Edinburgh acts' and 'circuit acts'. The latter get often difficult rooms full of people howling with laughter over 20-minute set every Friday and Saturday night, but often don't get the critical acclaim of the festival darlings, who typically use their hours to offer something more emotional, theatrical or artistically daring. Some acts straddle both camps, of course, but here we present ten Edinburgh-bound acts known more for their work in the clubs than at the Fringe, but who've certainly proved their abilities in front of audiences over the years...

Never one to shy away from the controversial, Nelson's latest show sees him exploring the meaning of his life now that he is officially Older Than Jesus. In this uncompromisingly hilarious show Nelson again brandishes his uniquely intelligent and sharp humour and showcases his simply sublime writing skills for a new hour of pure and simple stand-up comedy. Already renowned for making his audience laugh at the sorts of things that they know they shouldn't, often before they even realize they are doing it, Nelson is very much a major comedy star on the rise.

As well as being an experienced Fringe performer, Mark Nelson has sold out shows at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and recently garnered a nomination for Best Headliner at the 2015 Scottish Comedy Awards. Mark Nelson's Guide to Marriage (BBC Radio Scotland) has also been nominated for Best Radio Show at the awards, having previously won the same category in its debut year.

It is not just Mark's performances which have gained recognition, with his work as a writer on shows such as Russell Howard's Good News and the BBC's satirical 2014 series Don't Drop the Baton also garnering acclaim. Older Than Jesus sees Mark continue to stretch the boundaries of comedy and split the sides of his audiences.
