Will Durst answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Will Durst

American comic Will Durst has an incredibly tempting added extra for audiences of his show, BoomeRaging From LSD to OMG..

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

Started performing way back when comedy was still in black and white: 1974. Been earning my living going on stage and attempting to make people laugh out loud on purpose against their will since 1981. Have clawed my way to the middle. Am successful in that my sole ambition was to keep working. So far, so good. Because when it works: it's better than sex and drugs and chocolate truffles filled with raspberry liquor and pretty much everything else. Although, admittedly, a car with a decent set of shocks would be nice.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

A tribute to the joys, achievements, frustrations and looming doom of the Baby Boom Generation. It's what happens when acid flashbacks meet dementia.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

Stress? What stress? Friday midnight show at The Comedy Store. Now, that's stress.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

Alas and alack. None whatsoever. Counting on word of mouth. Always depended upon the kindness of strangers.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Enough for a lovely pied a terre on the banks of the Seine.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

Trying to explain to a cab driver we were going in the wrong direction. He just laughed at everything I said and kept on driving. Ended up in Dunfermline. Another classic game of Wank the Yank.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

Each and every other comedy show at The Gilded Balloon. I'm a right company man, I am.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Lenny Bruce.
Lord Buckley.
Bill Hicks.
George Carlin.
Greg Proops.
Mark Thomas.
Jo Brand.
Eddie Izzard.
Derek & Clive.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

John Sewel. Even we comedians have standards you know.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

With my show, the audience doesn't just receive a surfeit of riotously funny comedy humour, but as an extra added special attraction: The Meaning Of Life. You're going to get your money's worth.
