Bernadette Byrne and Victor Victoria (aka Jennifer Byrne and Vicky Falconer-Pritchard) from cult musical comedy duo EastEnd Cabaret are bringing their show Perverts to the Fringe for just two nights. Here the characters have a stab at our ten questions...

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

Bernadette Byrne: Well darlings, I have obviously been performing from a very young age. Unfortunately, Victy has always been there...

Victor Victoria: And as soon as I could strike I note on a piano, we were writing songs. About Bernie, of course.

BB: But since moving into our bedsit in East London, we have been creating these shows booked by Comedy and Fringe Festivals around the world for the last five years. It's been a real whirlwind. It's wonderful.

VV: We put on our first show at The George Tavern at the end of 2009, and have not looked back since!

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

VV: This cult musical comedy duo bring an utterly raucous hour of their most salacious songs: all-filth, no filler! Dark, hilarious and dangerously inappropriate.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

BB: We're actually taking it quite easy this year. Two shows, right at the end of the Fringe, Friday and Saturday at midnight. An hour of pure fun, and we play all of our favourite risque numbers. Perfect for punters, artists, everyone to get loose and have a few sneaky gins!

VV: We're in the beautiful Bosco Tent at Assembly Gardens, it's going to be a proper party atmosphere!

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

BB: By only doing two shows!

VV: We were actually planning on taking a year off (this being our 5th year at the Fringe) as we had already scheduled two lovely weeks at Soho Theatre in London. But then we had lots of messages asking us why we weren't coming...

BB: So I decided we should go. Give the people what they want, darlings!

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

BB: Money? I have no idea. Victy takes care of all that.

VV: I am the EastEnd Cabaret accountant. And we don't lose money. As long as the gin fund is up, we're up!

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

BB: Two years ago, we brought a guy up on to the stage to take part in a sort of "nightclub" dance scene. Perhaps it was the stage lights, perhaps it was the 3 empty bottles of Buckfast (seriously) that we found rolling under his chair afterwards, but this man seemed to no longer be in control of his own body. A loud, and terrifyingly primal scream burst forth from him, as he beat his chest and thrusted his crotch into the face of a well-known reviewer...

VV: Needless to say, it was a night we will never be able to erase from our memories.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

BB: There are so many, we have an amazing "Fringe family" that we catch up with at festivals all over the world.

VV: But we definitely won't miss Wil Greenway's wonderful weird storytelling, the bizarre lo-fi musical physical comedy of Stuart Bowden, hilarious dance powerhouse Tessa Waters as Womanz... there are so many!

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

BB: I think that quite a few of our answers would be in the question above! A line-up that consists of all of our favourites, and nobody we hate, would be an excellent bill. In fact, we did curate our own show, Club Perverts (at the London Wonderground) earlier this year.

VV: We love the absolute absurdism of Paul Foot and Sam Simmons (plus they are nice people that we like) so they'd be in. All of the wonderful Don't Be Lonely crew would definitely be in. How long does this show go for? We're going to need at least three hours...

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

BB: The strange cave man that we accidentally brought onstage a few years ago. Obviously.

VV: Also I would rather not bump into the man who sells macaroni pies. For other, more complicated reasons.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

BB: Because no other of the 1700+ comedy offerings will start their show by riding in on a manbeast. I can't wait to find a good Scottish one to start the show. Perhaps you know someone, darlings?

VV: And because there is absolutely nowhere else to be on the final Friday and Saturday night at the Fringe than getting your pervert on with us!

'EastEnd Cabaret: Perverts' is at 11:59pm at Assembly George Square Gardens on 28-29 August. Listing
