Countrybile - armed with a blunderbuss, a bottle of Scotch and his rabid wit, stand-up poet Elvis McGonagall emerges from his godforsaken rural idyll at the Graceland Caravan Park to take aim at this septic isle. Land of robber barons and food banks, of Kirstie Allsopp cupcakery and dead badgers. Downtrodden Abbey plc starring polo-playing oligarchs and zero-hour serfs. What's going on? And why is Benedict Cumberbatch swinging from the chandeliers in a Spiderman onesie? Find out as Elvis rises up from his revolting armchair to kick against the pricks. Viva McGonagall! Bring your own pitchfork.

BBC Radio 4 star, stand-up poet for the people, armchair revolutionary and recumbent rocker, Elvis McGonagall returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with his brand new show Countrybile.

Armed with a blunderbuss, a bottle of Scotch and his rabid wit, stand-up poet Elvis McGonagall emerges from his godforsaken rural idyll at the Graceland Caravan Park to take aim at this septic isle. This land of robber barons and food banks, of Kirstie Allsopp cupcakery and dead badgers. Downtrodden Abbey plc starring polo-playing oligarchs and zero-hour serfs. What the hell is going on? And why is Benedict Cumberbatch swinging from the chandeliers in a Spiderman onesie? Find out as Elvis rises up from his revolting armchair to kick against the pricks.

Elvis last appeared at the Festival in 2009 with his acclaimed show One Man And His Doggerel. Since then he's had a hit radio 4 sitcom, Elvis McGonagall Takes A Look On The Bright Side, the second series of which transmits in August. A regular voice on Radio 4, you'll also hear Elvis on the Today Programme and Saturday Live, as well as writing and presenting documentaries.
