Chris Martin returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a new idea. An idea that may change the very course of stand-up history as we know it. What if a stand-up show had a soundtrack?
Whilst watching one of his favourite films Magnolia, Chris Martin realised just how important the score was to what was happening and how it added to the experience of the film and thought why can't a stand-up comedy show have a soundtrack too? This new show is a lot more personal than previous ones, especially after being made privy to a weird couple of revelations in his parents' relationship and so Chris sets out to discover the power of music in enhancing performance with his hour-long show about love, legacy and owls, all underlined with an originally composed score by his mate, Steve.
As a stand-up, Chris has performed all over the world including Dubai, New Zealand and Australia, where Best of the Edinburgh Fest (performed alongside Carl Donnelly and John Hastings) came runner-up for the Comedy Award at the Fringe World Awards 2015. His 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show was a complete sell out. Chris has also supported Jack Whitehall, Russell Kane and more recently, Milton Jones on tour, where he has performed to over 100,000 people.
Chris has various TV credits to his name, including appearing on Fake Reaction (ITV2), and Dave's One Night Stand (Dave). Chris's radio credits include: featuring on the panel show Fighting Talk (BBC Radio 5 Live), performing on Comedy on The Boat (BBC Radio 4 Extra) and has been as a guest on Hawksbee & Jacobs and Matt Forde (TalkSPORT). Chris also hosts a hugely successful podcast with Carl Donnelly, which is listed in the Guardian's top 10 comedy podcasts.
