Kamikaze sketch wunderkinds Staple/face come careering back to Edinburgh, hell-bent on succeeding by dying trying. They've had another year to hone their own brand of gripping, breathless, creaky sketch comedy. Now they will show no mercy. Any other comedians around for the month will be fought and killed. Staple/face are very strong, Staple/face are going to win and Staple/face are not scared. Please don't hurt us. 'I laughed a lot' (Sarah Millican). Winners of So You Think That's Funny? Best New Sketch Act 2013. ***** (RemoteGoat.com). **** (BroadwayBaby.com). 'Comedic brilliance' **** (ThreeWeeks).

Fringe cut: Best of the northwest in Edinburgh

Every August our friends in the North ruthlessly steal all of our comedians for an entire month. Frankly, it's not on. Still, we've rounded up some of our favourites from the Northwest circuit you should check out if you head to Edinburgh for the Fringe.

John Stansfield, The Skinny, 30th July 2014

Award-winning sketch group return with innovative and game-changing second show.

Since Staple/face won Fosters' So You Think That's Funny? Best New Sketch Act 2013, they've been going from strength to strength - performing at the inaugural Soho Sketch Festival alongside Pappy's and Adam Riches, regularly selling out all-new shows, and appearing up and down the country supporting Sarah Millican, Phill Jupitus and John Finnemore. Now, Staple/face come careering back to the Fringe with a frantic new hour of gripping, breathless, creaky sketch comedy.

With all eyes on Staple/face and a sketch award-shaped albatross around their necks, the pressure is on. Crossing the trials of almost-masculinity with the rickety magic of vintage broadcasting, the trio deliver a whirlwind of calamitous tales and homemade props. Unwilling to settle for anything short of the best comedy show in history, Staple/face will go down fighting or die trying.

Following their explosive Free Fringe debut ("outstanding... by avoiding the classic clichés they offer something genuinely different" - Three Weeks), Staple/face are set to take Edinburgh by storm, cementing themselves as the most exciting, inventive and original new sketch act in the UK today.

Staple/face are Mike Bentley, Tom Burgess and Sam Nicoresti. The show is directed by Jack Anderson.
