Following his critically acclaimed sell-out show in 2013, Robins is back! A show about love and happiness from last year's ThreeWeeks Editors' Award winner. Strap your minds in! As seen on Russell Howard's Good News (BBC Three) and Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central). 'Comedy in its rawest form: one man, one microphone, one fantastically funny show' ***** (ThreeWeeks). 'One of the most consistently pleasing hours on the fringe' **** (Independent). 'Fantastically entertaining' **** (Chortle.co.uk).

Edinburgh Fringe 2014: The comedy highlights

The most interesting game each year is predicting which lesser-known names will have that magical August that propels them into the big leagues.

Sara Pascoe and John Robins, Edinburgh Previews

What I loved most about Sara Pascoe's show was that she talked very openly regarding her feminist views without leaving a resentful feel in the air. John Robins' new show is very strong, with a good balance of accessible observations with brilliant acted out scenes.

Edinburgh Fringe preview: John Robins

Comedy is all about timing and this year Robins is doing plenty of previews so that he should have his ending ready from the very start.

More details

John's 2013 Edinburgh show Where Is My Mind? was the best reviewed stand-up show at the festival and following his subsequent nationwide tour, is no longer comedy's best-kept secret! He is currently hosting a weekly show on XFM radio with his pal Elis James, in the very same Sunday morning slot that launched the careers of Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr and Adam & Joe! He is also performing at this year's New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

His new show, This Tornado Loves You, debates the difference in the fantasy and reality of relationships and single life. Is there really such a thing as 'the one'? Is the fantasy of the single life an illusion? Is happiness funny? John explores how being in a relationship effects your friendships and also lifts the lid on the taboo topic of male comedians using material to get laid!!

His previous hour-long Edinburgh shows were Skinny Love (2009), Nomadic Revery (2010), Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven (2011) and Incredible Scenes! (2012) and last years Where Is My Mind? (2013). After acclaimed appearances in the improvised stand up show Set List at Edinburgh & London, John now holds a regular slot on the show.

He recently performed stand-up on Live at The Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and has also performed stand-up on Russell Howard's Good News (BBC Three) and appeared on Sarah Millican's episode of Celebrity Deal Or No Deal (Channel 4). Hal featured on the 8 Out of 10 Cats Deal or No Deal Mash Up (C4). John is currently writing for 8 Of 10 Cats, Stand Up For The Week & Twit of The Year all for Channel 4. Past writing credits include The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4) and appeared on The Russell Howard Show (BBC 6Music), The Jon Richardson Show (BBC 6music), Word of Mouth (BBC Radio 4), The Matt Forde Show (Talksport), Drive Time (BBC Radio 5Live) and BBC Radio Wales' topical news show What's The Story?.
