Chronicling tales of a modern day gypsy and her search for love and romance in the face of adversity, Hell is where the heart is combines shrewd cabaret, folk-infused melodies and rock 'n roll vignettes.

Donning a black corset, a lacy ensemble and a feathered hat, Elyssa saunters onto stage where her poignant lyrics and alluring vocals take you to a magical wonderland inhabited by a fiddle-playing faun, an unflappable bassist and a rambunctious drummer.

Conceived in Edinburgh, the band is eponymously named The Bêtes Noires - French for the nightmares of past lovers. One moment a powerful poet; the next a saucy seductress - Elyssa will lead The Bêtes Noires to captivate your senses and hold you spellbound from beginning to end.

Drawing inspiration from Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd and Amanda Palmer, this melodic minstrel has treaded the boards of Wellington's International Folk Festival, Italy's Teatro Sociale Villani, San Francisco's Bath House and Glasgow's Nice 'n' Sleazy club, amongst others.
