2013 Edinburgh Fringe

Comedian challenges critics to a fight

Joz Norris

Comedians put on shows at the Edinburgh Fringe for all kinds of motivations, of which getting feedback from experienced reviewers tends to be one. However, with critics only having limited time in their schedules, many shows struggle to get any press. Joz Norris has come up with a unique idea to sort that, as he explains here...

So we're just past the halfway point of the Edinburgh Fringe 2013. It's going well so far, I've had good audiences who have all enjoyed the show, and I'm very proud of the show itself. But it's been proving tricky to get reviewers in, which has a knock-on effect on the Festival's general awareness of the show itself, making it trickier to keep driving people in, and making it the success it deserves to be.

It's a problem that's affected not just me but lots of other comics. Great shows have struggled to get reviewers to come to their Free Fringe and Free Festival venues. Well, no longer. I have resorted to desperate measures and, taking influence from the writings of the late great Roberto Bolano, have decided to challenge every comedy critic covering the Fringe to a duel on Calton Hill at noon on Monday 26th... if they don't accept my invitation to come and see the show and review it that is.

I hope they will all do the honourable thing. Please help spread the word about this challenge in order to try and persuade those reviewers who can't fit free shows into their schedule to defend their honour by doing battle with me on the last day of the Fringe. It'll be a blast.

'Joz Norris Has Gone Missing' is at The Blind Poet at 2:45pm daily. Listing
