The Blanks, aka 'Ted's Band' from the hit TV show Scrubs, make their Edinburgh Festival debut at the Gilded Balloon Debating Hall this summer. A truly unique act, The Blanks mix a cappella, a knock about comic tale and sketches into an unashamedly feel good show. Not only appealing to fans of Scrubs it has the added silliness of TV Burp, the vocal powers of Glee and the timelessness of the Marx Brothers giving them a universal appeal.
The group consists of Sam Lloyd, Paul F. Perry, George Miserlis and Philip McNiven. They appeared in all eight series of Scrubs as well as the current season of Cougar Town/i]. They've created hugely popular videos averaging over 1 million unique views that include Outkast's "Hey Ya!" as well as a medley of pop numbers by Katy Perry, Cee Lo Green and Rhianna, made famous on Scott Mill's BBC Radio One Show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhZrJyrsza4. They have had over 8.5 million total YouTube views.
Sam Lloydp is best known as Ted Buckland the put upon hospital attorney from Scrubs. Over the years he's played memorable roles in films such as Galaxy Quest, Rising Sun and Flubber, and in television shows like Seinfeld, 3rd Rock From the Sun, The West Wing and Desperate Housewives. He reprised his iconic role as Ted for the 2011 season finale of Cougar Town and again in March this year along with The Blanks in tow. It is a little known fact Sam is also Christopher Lloyd's nephew.
George Miserlis: George and Sam met while double dating twin sisters at their favorite hangout, Chuck E. Cheese. While the romances didn't last, George and Sam became roommates at college. As a performer, George did improv comedy regularly with The Second City.
Paul F. Perry is the musical brains and visionary of the Blanks. He met Sam and George while attending college. Paul was nominated an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for his song "Guy Love".
Phillip McNiven the son of an Englishman and a French Impressionist, which for some reason makes him Canadian. Eventually he moved to Toronto, and became a tennis pro, hard to do when the courts are ice. Philip eventually packed his racquets and headed for L.A where he met the rest of The Blanks.
