Video: Piff the Magic Dragon plays his cards right

Piff the Magic Dragon has been making a nuisance of himself around The Hour office lately. Unsuspecting staff members have been dazzled by his magic, bemused by his outfit and pestered for money.

The award-winning magic stand-up Piff the Magic Dragon clambers onto Just the Studio's stage every evening at 6:40pm at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his electrifying new show: Last of the Magic Dragons.

It's not easy being the last of your species and Piff is miffed. His wife's run off with Prince Charming, his brother's in rehab and health and safety laws have forced Piff to quit the booze. Dragons aren't allowed alcohol; it combusts. To make matters worse, nobody is taking Piff seriously as the Greatest Magic Dragon of All Time. It's time to set the record straight...

This year Piff will prove he can dazzle like David Copperfield, match the psychic ability of Derren Brown and surpass the dizzying heights of Paul Daniels...by an inch. Piff has charmed and astounded audiences all over the world with his mix of mind-blowing magic, delightfully deadpan humour and penchant for princesses. Joined by Mr Piffles, the World's First Levitating and Card Trick-Performing Chihuahua,

Piff will be taking to the stage with a whole host of new gasp-out-loud magic and stand-up comedy in a bid to cement his reputation once and for all.

Piff announced his arrival by reaching the final of Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2009. He then scooped the Best Comedy Act award at the Buxton Fringe Festival 2009 and unleashed his debut show, Piff-Tacular, on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Hugely successful and critically acclaimed, the show broke the free fringe record for biggest takings in a single night. Returning to the festival in 2010, the show's sequel Piff-Tacular 2: Get Rich or Die Trying, was one of the Top 3 Picks of the Fringe by the The One Show (BBC One) and has appeared on BBC Breakfast. He has recently returned from a sell-out tour of Australia, visiting Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and being described as "genuinely side-splittingly funny... If there's one show that lives up to its hype this Fringe World season, it's Piff-Tacular 2!" (ArtsHub)

Piff's creator, John van der Put, was awarded The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year in March 2011 and has created magic for Heston Blumenthal, David Blaine and the National Theatre, making Piff the Magic Dragon: Last of the Magic Dragons at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 a performance not to be missed!

Piff The Magic Dragon is kindly sponsored by Vivien of Holloway, the best 1940s and 50s reproduction clothing.
