Husky-voiced Dorset lass Jessica Fostekew makes her solo Edinburgh Fringe debut this year with Luxury Tramp, a show about how sometimes it can take a tough time to make you realise that you can't please everyone. Jessica is a self-proclaimed human oxymoron, the kind of girl who eats kebab with Chianti.

Directed by Time Out's Tim Arthur, Jessica's brutally candid and belly-achingly funny story of love and loss is a must for anyone who thinks popularity is the key to happiness or who's yet to realise that being a luxury tramp, or simply yourself, is A-okay.

Jessica has been doing stand-up for just three years, but this isn't her first trip to the festival. In 2009 she was in a pair of two-handers - Pecker And Foof Save The World and Cream Eggs Vs Nazi Nana - at the free fringe, and the year before she was a semi-finalist in the festival's annual So You Think You're Funny? competition.

Having grown up in sleepy Dorset, Jessica moved to London to attend the London School of Economics, where she got a law degree before deciding she'd rather be an actress than a barrister. Eagle-eyed telly watchers will have spotted Jessica in the BBC's award-winning black comedy Psychoville. She also starred in Channel 4's short film Hallo Panda, a non-rom-com that picked up a host of gongs at film awards around the globe, and she writes on Radio 4's long-running topical comedy The Now Show.

Jessica brings all her acting savvy to her stand-up, resulting in a warm, audience-embracing performance that isn't scared to reach into the darkest places within all of us - and render them hilarious. In the words of her director (and former Time Out comedy editor) Tim Arthur, "Jessica's remarkable onstage energy and her ability to filter her comedy through bizarre characterisation and sharp-tongued wit are what make her definitely one to watch".
